Lhasa, Capital of Tibet
Lhasa is the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, and the political, economic, cultural and educational center of Tibet, and the holy land for Tibetan Buddhism. Lhasa River flows here and flows into the Yarlung Tsangpo River in the southern suburbs of Lhasa. With 3650 meters above sea level, Lhasa City boasts pleasant weather because of more sunny weather all year, little rain, no serious cold in winter, and no serious hot in summer. Because of more than 3000 hours sunshine time all year, Lhasa has praised as “sunshine city”. As the first batch of national historical and cultural city, Lhasa is known for its beautiful scenery, long history, special folk custom and strong religious colour. In 7th century, Songtsen Gampo moved the political center from Yarlung River Valley to Lhasa after ruling whole Tibet.
