In Qinghai Province, Yushu (Jyekundo) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is known as the "Master of the Famous Mountains", the "Source of Rivers and Lakes", the "Land of Yaks" and the "Home of Singing and Dance". Most of Qinghai's Tibetan residential areas are referred to as "Amdo", but Yushu Prefecture is known as "Kham", such as Chamdo (Changdu) Prefecture of Tibet, Garze (Ganzi) Prefecture of Sichuan, and Diqing Prefecture in Yunnan. Khampa Tibetans have colorful costumes, they are good at sing and dance, besides, their music is expressive, which show their art talent.
Ling on a natural and beautiful meadow, Yushu is considered as a "paradise for singing and dancing". From July 25th to August 1st each year, the Yushu Horse Racing Festival (nomad festival) is celebrated with the focus of songs and dances, horse racing and material exchange. The Yushu Horse Racing Festival is considered as the largest Tibetan national event in Qinghai Province. During the festival, the Tibetans will dress in their bright costumes and set up their tents on the meadow and go to participate in horse racing, equestrian sports, yak racing, Tibetan wrestling, archery, exhibition of Tibetan costumes, performance of Tibetan singing and dancing and other strange activities.
