Tsada Earth Forest
Between Gandise and Himalaya
The "Earth Forest" is another soil formation in Tibet with travel and expedition value. This "Earth Forest" is located in Tsada region (Zhada) between Gandise and Himalayas, in the Xiangquan river valley. Covering an area of 100 km², the Tsada Earth Forest is a plateau platform design in the Quaternary period, which is caused by the long-term water erosion of the river valley. The "Earth Forest" has different heights and looks like that it comes from a fairy tale world. There are many grottos with murals. Therefore, some people thought that Qionglong, the capital of the legendary ancient kingdom Zhangzhung (Xang Xung) that is reported in the Bon religion, was in today's Tsada district.
