With 6282 meters above sea level, Amnye Machen Mountain is located in the northwest of Maqin County, Ngolok Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. In Tibetan, Amnye Machen is meaning the highest ranking servant for serving Living Buddha. “Amnye” is a transliteration in Amdo Tibetan, meaning progenitor and meaning beautiful, happy, magnanimous and fearless. “Machen” means the largest mountain at the source of the Yellow River, and means magnificent. So Amnye Machen means strong progenitor in Tibetan. The Tibetan people call Amnye Machen one of the nine gods who created the world. Among the 21 holy mountains in the Tibetan people's belief, the fourth holy mountain is the Amnye Machen that specializes the changes of mountain, river, and all things in the world in Amdo area, and that is ambulance for Tibetan Nationality.
Amnye Machen Mountain is located in Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve, covered snow all year round, with lots of glaciers, plenty of water plants on pasture, and interleaved wetlands and spring water. There are many rare and valuable animals living on highland boskage and in old-growth forest, such as Snow Cock, Eared Pleasant, Snow Leopard, White-Lipped Deer. All of them form the unique natural and human landscape in Qinghai.
The bike tour route will be started from Xining and chase the Yellow River and snow mountains along the pilgrimage road of Amnye Machen. Under the guidance of the Amnye Machen pilgrims, we’ll pay a tribute to the holly mountain.
